Modern Design Yachts

Designed by leading yacht designers, these boats combine modern design with state-of-the-art technology to make for luxurious and comfortable yachting experiences. From the cutting-edge hull shape of Venus to the sleek and minimalist interiors of Chaika, these vessels show off what contemporary design looks like when it comes to superyachts.
One of the biggest trends in modern design yachts is a lean towards open spaces. A trend seen on many of the new vessels this year, this style gives a feeling of space and light on board that is hard to achieve without large windows. One of the best examples of this is the M/Y Pied-a-Mer, which features 23 windows that meld into the structural lines of the yacht. These windows also feature smart tech that allows the owner to hit a button and darken the window at night without having to pull down a blind.
Another modern design trend is a focus on sustainability. This is reflected in the choice of materials used on some of the latest yachts, with the use of newer and more environmentally friendly products. For example, some yachts have been built with a lightweight composite material that is made from recycled plastic bottles and foam. This material helps to reduce the yacht’s carbon footprint while still providing a strong and durable product. This material has been used on some of the most recent launches, including the 77m Venus, which was designed by Philippe Starck for Steve Jobs.
Other sustainable features of modern design yachts include the integration of green technologies such as solar panels and LED lights with the latest systems, such as touch-screen automation and a full-beam spa. There has also been a focus on making the vessel look like a luxury resort, with spas, gyms and entertainment zones all contributing to a relaxing experience while onboard.
A third design trend is a move toward the use of darker shades. This is a more muted shade than white and can bring a sense of warmth to an interior while blending in with the exterior of the yacht. This can be seen on the 73m M/Y Nuvolari-Lenard, which features black and red accents throughout the salons, dining rooms and bedrooms of the vessel.
The newest addition to the J Class fleet, M/Y Svea, is a perfect example of how modern and traditional design can co-exist on a superyacht. The harmony between historic and modern design on this spectacular vessel is highlighted by her red, black and white color palette in the salons, dinning rooms and bedrooms, which are all designed by Nuvolari-Lenard.
